Giovanni Lombardo RadiceGIOVANNI LOMBARDO RADICE (JOHN MORGHEN) is the "idiot" of a quite eminent Italian family, which includes the pedagogist Giuseppe (grandfather), the mathematician-politician-writer Lucio (father), the neuropsychiatrist and writer Marco (brother), the jurist and Father of the Italian Constitution Arturo Carlo Jemolo (grandfather), the historian Raffaello Morghen (great-uncle) and Pietro Ingrao, eminent politician and first communist President of the Italian Parliament.
As Giovanni didn't want to be accused of being the usual spoiled, radical chic brat, he accurately avoided the family patterns and dishonoured the Family Bible with activities mostly connected with show business (the "clowns", as grandfather Jemolo used to say).
Nevertheless he inherited some of the ecletic blood of his ancestors and spaced (and still spaces) from directing to acting and from writing to translating. Amongst the moments of his career that caused heart failures to his family he deeply cherishes his acting in the most celebrated spaghetti horror in the early eighties, which granted him a certain fame in foreign countries and among splatter fans, first of all Quentin Tarantino. If asked about what he would like mentioned on his tombstone, he would surely like to be remembered the translation into Italian verses of some Shakespeare sonnets (still unpublished).
